Workshop: Wood Frame Construction for High Wind Regions
Workshop Overview
The program will focus on reducing framing costs while complying with high wind structural design and residential energy codes. The audience will gain an understanding of advanced framing techniques including using wall sheathing for combined shear and uplift, 24 inch spacing of framing members and exterior wall headers that allow for insulation. We will address framing methods that reduce air infiltration and radiant barrier roof sheathing for both heating and cooling benefits. The program will include selection and specifying sheathing for roof, floor and wall construction and proper specification for nails and staples including overdriven nails in roof and wall sheathing.
