REsolve, SJ Housing Conference 2019 - Exploring Public-Private Partnerships
Presented by: Financial Wellness Institute, Land Dimensions, Rutgers University -Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs
As you may be aware, New Jersey continues to be the #1 state in the country with foreclosures and South Jersey is #1 in the state. In October 2018, in collaboration with the Rand Institute and Land Dimensions, we rolled out a report called Turning Toxic Liabilities into Community Assets, to raise awareness about the vast number of distressed properties – REO, vacant, abandoned – scattered throughout the South Jersey Region. The report laid out several market-driven strategies which could potentially help address the issue.
While the state is attempting to address the issue, with the Governor having recently signed in to law several bills to address the crisis, we cannot assume, nor should we, that the government is going to have the capacity to address all of the issues on its own. Without a holistic approach to addressing the issues, we believe the future economic health of the State is at risk.
Please join us to discuss creating public-private market-driven strategies to address the crises.
